What foods go with Sauvignon Blanc?

In the Sommelier Journal article 'Cooks love Sauvignon Blanc,' Joyce Goldstein tells readers that "Sauvignon Blanc is a dependable workhorse for seafood starters and a savior for wine-challenging salads of lettuces and bitter greens, radishes, citrus segments, fennel—even artichokes and asparagus."

Goldstein offers a list of Sauvignon Blanc friendly food pairings and gives readers the recipe for Scallop, Orange, and Fennel Salad with Peppery Citrus Dressing.

I enjoy Sauvignon Blanc with seafood dishes and especially with a simple appetizer of tangy Goat Cheese on a plain cracker.

Have you paired Sauvignon Blanc and food? What was your favorite pairing?

How to Cook with Leftover Beer

It's Sunday morning, and you've got a cup of leftover dark beer from last night's festivities. Should you toss it down the drain?

I found this recipe in the Albany Times Union recipe box blog. "Brewing French Toast" gives the ingredients for a French Toast recipe that will take care of your hunger and that leftover beer at the same time!

Let the bread slices soak while you clean up the house, and have a delicious breakfast and a bit of the "hair of the dog" at the same time!
