How to read a wine list

In the article, 'Take Control Of The Wine List,' Wine Coach Laurie Forster explains how to navigate wine lists that are organized by varietal, geography or progressively according to the body of the wine.

Forster says that geographic and grape varietal lists account for 80% of restaurant wine lists, but the progressive list may be a growing trend for the future.

If I was handed a wine list full of unfamiliar wines, I would prefer to choose from a progressive wine list, so I could select a wine according to the meal I was choosing for lunch or dinner.

What is your favorite type of wine list?
