Before your next wine country vacation, find out about these top Finger Lakes Winemakers

In a series of audio interviews, the winemakers from Atwater, Bellhurst, Dr. Franks, Fox Run, Glenora, Hermann J. Wiemer, Heron Hill, Lamoreaux Landing, Red Newt, and Ravines wineries answer questions about their winemaking styles and give you their personal choice for best winery in the Finger Lakes in this interactive presentation at FingerLakesWine.com.

I love this piece because I can actually hear the winemakers talk about the wines they make, their backgrounds, and what separates their winemaking practices from other wineries.

A Primer on Zinfandel, Primitivo and Crljenak Kastelansk

Same grape, three different names.

Wall Street Journal columnists Dorothy Gaiter and John Brechner taste several bottles of Italian Primitivo and review their results, as well as providing a history of this grape with three names in the Tastings column - 'Italy's Zinfandel Pretender Primitivo Is Genetically the Same Grape, but Few Bottles Are Worth Trying.'

I have tried both Zinfandel and Primitivo in my quest to become a member of the Wine Century Club, so my favorite part of the article was learning how to pronounce the Croatian version - Crljenak Kastelanski (Gaiter and Brechner say it is shaira-lay-nack kash-tell-an-ski).

Cooking Video Review - Stress Free Cooking, Volume 1

I just rented a great cooking video - 'Fun-to-Know: Stress Free Cooking: Vol. 1: Appetizers, Soups & Salad,' from Netflix. Food educator Barbara Selig Brown prepares meals using fresh, nutritious ingredients, including tomato basil bruschetta, portobello crostini, tri-colore salad and two delicious soups.

Barbara has published extensively both as a cookbook author and as a food and wine columnist and she teaches at various cooking schools in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She is a member of The New York Chapter of Les Dames d'Escoffier International, The International Association of Culinary Professionals (IACP), The American Dietetics Association, and Women for Wine Sense.

I like her casual approach to cooking. Fixing dinner should be a fun and relaxing experience that ends in a tasty meal shared with people you love.

Visit her website and try her simple and nutritious recipes -
